EPISODE NOTES:

  • As much as the medical field has so many ways of helping couples who struggle with infertility, we really are not talking about this topic enough. We don’t know enough in the mainstream.

  • Education and conversations can help people to prepare for the possibility of infertility.

  • Couples going through this journey have to make sure that they as a couple work first. They are the foundation for any future family they build, and so in order for that family to work, the couple has to work first.

  • Open communication and focusing on making things work is so important during this process.

  • Marriage is an important relationship and will fill very unique needs for us as individuals, but we can not expect it to fill needs in every avenue for us. Because of this, it’s important to find someone, or find a community, that truly understands what you’re going through because they’ve been there.

  • Our society does not bring up the conversation around infertility and it can be extremely isolating.

  • This feeling of isolation can oftentimes pull people away from a desire to connect.

  • Disconnect can happen with loved ones who don’t necessarily understand what you’re going through simply due to the fact that they don’t know what to say or how to respond.

  • The best way to help someone who is going through infertility is to first ask what they need, and then listen and adapt.

  • The most important thing for anyone experiencing infertility to know is that you are not alone in this.
